I should be sick of stripes...right?

~garnet hill tee's for kids and stripy pair of legging (top left)~

Always a fan of Garnet Hill, I had to check out a sale that has been running for a while now. I snagged these stripy numbers for mini for 4-8 bucks a piece (more than i usually pay for her tee's, but these survive the test of time like no others and i think they are kind of cute in that not so basic tee way). These tee's are definitively the crème de la crème of tee's as she still wearing some from a sale I purchased about two years ago. They wash brilliantly and have this magnificent way of not loosing there color though I wash min's close in warm (always) and they are washed oh so frequently. And most importantly, they always have a unique detail that sets them apart from the oh so basic tee (excuse overuse of "oh so"...you'd think i was just introduced to that phrase eh?, lol)

~garnet hill tights for girls (and yeah those are some dots thrown in there too just to jazz it up a bit, hee hee~

I mean really, check out the detail on the bottom three....

~garnet hill flutter sleeve tee for kids~

I just love that sleeve detail. Reminded mini of Ting-A-Ling and the fact that she ASKED me to knit another reversing the colors that I have yet to produce (guess i'll be casting on for that soon...i completely forgot about that). But hey, any reason to knit with more cotton-ease and I'm all for it. These were such a deal so I just purchased what they had which were sized 8-12 and cant believe that min fits in the 8's and insisted on wearing a 10 today (that would be the navy flutter sleeve that she just HAD to wear today with her new kicks.

Yeah, in addition to the great tee and then some. I picked her up some new kicks on sale too. When they have a sale, they have a sale. Clothes that she actually grows out of before they wear out is just amazing (and min's a bit of a rough player and poor qualit results in many holes to mend) and these are even nice enough to pass on after that wear...sheer quality considering we go from the floppy (tad to big) style to 3/4 length look for her shirts. I just love how she currently accept my fashion explanations why it really not too small in arms..."it's just a shirt that evolves, love" (that always get me a smile from her), lol. Same with pants...from long trousers to clam diggers...hey pants can evolve too. We're a bit fan of the legging that turn into footless tights for dresses and skirts. It seems she only grows up and not out, so I put a slit on the side bottom of those pants (most already have them and she's good to go, lol).

~gotta love chucks!~

I wear mine ALL the time and if they weren't so beat, I'd show a pick, but I was able to get a few pair for me too as all Chucks were on clearance. Plus I'm sick of being told to "put them down". No way as I've had them since high school. They are geniune vintage to me. I'll still wear them, but I guess not on casual Friday (and yes, I did go there, but was promptly politely advised not to go back, lol).

And just recently a new and fabulous friend and I met up for lunch after she arrived from a trip back home. She was so gracious and brought me back a some precious goodies from Japan. A pom pom maker that I had been dreaming of since I first heard of it was tucked inside the bag!

~knitty treats from Japan (and check out the snazzy case that the notions call home~

I have to share how I met this lovely woman purely by chance. It was a friendship that grew from cotton-ease coupled with Debbie Bliss. More on that later...

Knitting can truly be a seed that grows precious friends. Oh so corny, but oh so true.

Oh no, I'm so jealous! I want goodies from Japan, too. C'ommon.
So that's where you've been, hanging out with "new friend" with Japanese treats. I see. :P
Love that sleeve, so stylish.
A shirt that evolves...now that one I'd never heard before.

Fabulous notions! That pom pom maker looks CLASS. Anything to make pom poms easier--they can be such a hassle (but the little people love them).

So good to hear from you! I'm a striped tee girl myself. And I usually buy one of every color. I'm totally with you - if you can find something that lasts more than one season - buy everything you can get your hands on! Mini's growing up!

I love the tights! I am so happy to be having a girl, if just for the sake of getting her stripey tights! In fact...I wonder if they make matching mother-daughter tights. Nah, that would be too cheesy. Or would it?

Oh man, so many things in this post I want for myself!! Cute stripey things, cute Japanese knitty things...I am oh so covetous!!

All of mini's clothes are so cute. I love the stripes.

I need to get my hands on one of those pompom makers. Time to go back to Japan (I wish).

Hey stripes are always great. They open up the possibilites. Mini has such a great sense of fasion. I bet she gets it from her Mom. What a great friend to bring such fab gifts from Japan. Looking forward to more post from you and Mini.

So much clover makes me oh so much jealous! Love those flutter sleeves on Mini.

Mini looks so cute in her flutter sleeve tee. Definitely if you can find good quality tees and $4-8 sounds good, especially for those that last and last. That's awesome. Love the tights too, they are so-o-o cute! Enjoyed hearing more about you and Mini. Hope to see more posts.

Hi Froggy! I for one think you can never have too many stripes. As for shoes, I'm partial to the Freds (Perrys that is) rather than the Chucks - but I am with you on the Converse! Cheers-

Absolutely love the tees and ESPECIALLY the pink sneakers - oh lord I'm 36 yrs old and find myself coveting these sneakers!! LOL..must go in search of a pair for an old girl at heart ;-)

So glad to "see" you on the blog. I miss you! There's a chance that I'll be back in DC for a few weeks in November - I'll let you know! xox,

You sound so creative with your little one's clothing!! She must be so thrilled with all her new stash. I still want to see a photo of your "chucks" though...smile.

Girl clothes are so fun! Boys are all boring colors and dragons and stuff. Nice tights too--I'd wear those if they came in lady size.

Posted by: Silvia at October 3, 2005 03:09 PM

Oh, I so want a pom pom maker like yours... :-)

Posted by: Pioggia at October 3, 2005 09:35 PM

The stripe-ier the better in my opinion. Those Japanese notions are so cute.
