Froggy Knits

Mad about stripes

Something told me I should probably finish my Navigator that is currently in progress before I start another, but I guess that something just didn't put up a strong enough case. I thought I was finished but I found some missed (most likely ignored) ends to weave in.

Well, mini has requested a stripey number of her own and since I stalled out on a few knits for her lately, I decided to get right on this one, Navigator No. 2. And though I love the white on black stripes of my initial Navigator, I still long for a nautical representation that a blue on white would clearly be. So there we have it, Navigator No. 3.

~more navigators mean more cotton-ease (l to r): bubble gum, sugar plum, vanilla, and blueberry~

I took notes from a very smart and clever rabbit when it comes to knitting stripes by carrying yarn up the side and it helps when it comes to weaving in those ends. At the moment I'm really loving the blue and white (in desperate need of blocking at the moment) for the nautical look of the pattern pic (which is in navy though my pattern pic looks black). And when it comes to mini's requested color combo, I'm also really liking both sides but I'll be honoring the chosen right side of the pattern when its comes to finishing.

Now carrying the yarn up the sides does help out a lot, but I still have many ends to weave. Mad about stripes...or just plain mad, lol.

It is a great idea, and you certainly need it if you're knitting THREE navigators. By the way, do you have a secret cotton-ease cache?

I love your classic version, but Mini's is tres chic. The girl knows her colors ;-)

You are doing such a smash-up job on all three navigators froggy!!

I recently completed a pillow using the carry the yarn up the side method. It really makes for an orderly wrong side me thinks!

Hope you are enjoying a really great weekend.

Woo hoo! Thank you for the shout-out, Miss Froggy.

I think I'm partial to the traditional blue/white navigator (note: it will be BIG for spring) and the pink navigator. Knit it on!

Love the strips! Beautiful colors for the navigators in both colors!
