Froggy Knits

How cute are these?

I'm a big fan of Garnet Hill. A couple of sweaters have me picking up the needles again. Check out this Eileen Fisher Asymmetrical Cardigan. Fantastic color, don't you think, lol? I just love Eileen Fisher too---check out her Cascading Cardigan in Washable Wool Interlock, Cascading Long Cardigan in Washable Wool Interlock and Shaped Cardigan in Washable Wool Fine Crepe. Don't think I didn't notice that Laraish look of the last one, lol. I think I just may have a Debbie Bliss pattern somewhere that is similar to these styles. I'll have to hunt through a few books this weekend. And I also like the simple lines of this Eileen Fisher Ribbed Sweater Jacket. Though its a bit constructed compared to what I envision wearing this coming fall/winter, I do like it. It reminds me of the Einstein Coat from The Knit Stitch by Sally Melville (and yes i know that's a stretch, but with a different collar and streamlined fit, maybe---okay so its a different sweater altogether, huh). And then we have some simple basics that I just have to have Chunky Henley and this Long Sweater Coat. I can see those being staples in my wardrobe.

Off the top of my head these patterns remind me that Jess and Rosy from Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora are on my list with that relaxed look and feel to them. And soon to be among my favs is Scoop de jour from ChicKnits.

Its so fun to go pattern hunting. Hope I can find what I'm looking for in stash. Those patterns are here....somewhere.

Good to see you posting! I, too, love the Garnet Hill catalog. I love browsing through catalogs looking for knits. So much fun. I think your picks are great.

Someone else was posting about Garnet Hill recently; thanks for introducing me to more patterns! :) It's good to "see" you again.

The Scoop du Jour gets my vote. A good staple wardrobe everyone could use.

Thanks for posting! :-)

i love it when you northern hemisphere lasses post reviews on the current trends and fashions. it gives me an idea of what to expect! we are a tad behind the times us southern gals!

Yeah I'm a big fan of the debbie bliss cotton angora book too... I regularly drool all over the copy at one of my local yarn shops!

hey there! all those patterns sound great. thanks for introducing me to Eileen Fisher and Garnet Hill.

Thanks for all the great links! I'd never heard of the Eileen Fischer line of clothing before and I love it!!

The ribbed sweater jacket looks like Jane Ellison's Butterfly to me. I know they take lots of yarn, but sweater coats seem to be worth it, since you'd get so much wear out of a good one.

loved your review. i haven't looked at garnet hill for a long time. ordered at catalog today and i'm off to re-visit the debbie bliss site. i'm on the button band for the scoop du jour sweater, love it. i am making it with peace fleece yarn. it is a wonderful pattern and will be a timeless sweater in a timeless yarn!!!!

Hey nice to see you posting again. I hadn't heard of Eileen Fisher before nor Garnet Hill. I just looked over and some of her designs are very reminiscent of Debbie Bliss. Really interesting.

Wow, you've got your work cut out for you for a while! Nice to see you posting again, and will look forward to seeing what you end up using to create the fab fall wardrobe...

ooo, i do like that asymetrical cardi - are you gonna design a similar pattern? i stopped a womyn on the street yesterday outside my LYS wearing something like it. she turned me on to the knit gallery here in toronto - how could i have not heard of a place called the KNIT GALLERY in my own city before?!?

Posted by: jae at August 29, 2005 09:12 AM

Lovely! Can't wait to see what you choose

I was wondering where you had gotten to...

Hey there, Froggy! I love Eileen Fisher too. Although my current budget does not allow for much if any - I always say, THAT's what I'm going to wear when I'm the boss. (grin) I saw some other cool sweaters in the window at an EF store - they were a similar style to the Asymmetrical Cardi, but looked like they were made with Manos. One was even orange! Take care - Dana

Thanks for the link to the Eileen Fisher site. I think there are a few items there that will have to come stay at my house. Wow...you will be PLENTY busy this fall!

Evil... back away. back away slowly and take your ideas with you. I have enough to do! ;-)

Hi - I really enjoyed the most recent Garnet Hill catalog, too! I'm planning on using Glampyre's top-down raglan pattern to make myself a modified version of the chunky henley. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make next :)

I love that assymetrical cardigan.. how unique!

I love Garnet Hill. I was flipping throught it with my daugter the other night and we both said that many of the sweaters look like Debbie Bliss sweaters.

My, my it looks like you have found quite an array of patterns. I can't wait to see which one or ones you make...Sometimes we all need a blogging break, but I'm glad to hear from you again.

Those are some nice sweaters! It sorta makes me chuckle, because it looks like Garnet Hill and Eileen Fisher are looking at pattern books! I could swear I have a pattern very similar to the one with the wide collar. It is a Jane Allison pattern book or a Noro book.
