July 04, 2005secretly wanting to be 10 again? After knitting a couple of pieces, the size seemed a bit odd (i know, i know, what's new). Guess I was just lovin' the stripes a bit much to notice. When it comes to Rowan patterns, I'm obviously pretty used to knitting the third size on all patterns. But somehow I missed the lit' bit at the beginning of this pattern that states that it is written for childrens, womens and mens. So instead of the third womens size, I have knit the bolded size (4-6, 6-8, 8-10, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44). Of course it took two pieces to realize that and then I automatically went for the third womens which turned out too big. According to schematics and measurement, I should really knit the 34 (ironically one size up from the 10...weird huh), so now I'm actually knitting my size finally...huh...sigh. ~mini tee vs my tee~ If this sweater wasn't primarily black, I would try to see if mini would entertain the idea of wearing it. But she's all about color and I'm pretty happy about that. But as I realized it was a bit too big for her (according to one of her favorite perfect fitting tees), a bit small for me (compared to one of my favorite tees) and comparing them, I couldn't help but think...are my tee's too tight. They look so similar in size and we are (obviously) not similar in size. I'm hoping that a "real friend" would let me know. 'Cause really guys, I don't want to be 10 again nor to I want to wear clothes that are too tight, lol. Maybe mini's clothes are a on the loose size as I'm always trying to squeak an extra year or two outta garments. Hmmm... Posted by froggy at July 4, 2005 08:45 PMComments
I always wear my tee shirts really tight. I think it's just a matter of preference. Posted by: Stacie at July 4, 2005 09:47 PMMini didn't try to get you to finish the sweater and give it to her? Posted by: Lauren at July 4, 2005 09:49 PMi say wear it tight and show off your gorgous bod! it is such a fantastic t-shirt that you just have to finish it! Posted by: jacqueline at July 4, 2005 10:43 PMAw, damn! That sucks. What are you going to do? Oh dear, at least you're back on track now. I think kiddies wear their Ts loose whereas we wear our Ts more fitted. I bought a kiddie T once and it fits in the body, but the armhole is tight and small! Posted by: erin at July 5, 2005 03:03 AMHa ha - that's so funny about the tees - it's true that sometimes I go to Gap and think I'm in the teens section, but it's not! But I think yours looks great! Posted by: Anne-Caroline at July 5, 2005 06:52 AMPlus, that yarn will stretch out a bit. Maybe it will fit after blocking and stretching? Posted by: Colleen at July 5, 2005 07:18 AMI am with Colleen--do you think you could black it for a little width and length? It is very pretty. Posted by: Lolly at July 5, 2005 07:43 AMI hate that! I've re-knit my current wip twice now. It happens some times. Talk to you soon... Posted by: Julia at July 5, 2005 09:21 AMI feel your pain with Rowan patterns. In fact I made a whole post on my blog about them. I always wind up with sweaters that don't fit, but I love their yarn and patterns. Posted by: BabblingB at July 5, 2005 09:42 AMTight tees, bay-bee! That's the way I wear mine. And I'm totally lovin' those stripes, too. Posted by: Becky at July 5, 2005 10:17 AMI love the summery stripes! How beautiful! Glad you got the right size going now too... :) Happy knitting! Posted by: Dani at July 5, 2005 11:06 AMPuh-leeze. It's gonna look great on you! you got nice curves...flaunt em. Posted by: heather at July 5, 2005 12:12 PMT-shirts look best when they are a tad tight, I think. Cute pattern! Posted by: Moni at July 5, 2005 03:17 PMI fins that comparing knitted items to other fabric can be very misleading. My knitted items are always wider than my tees. Posted by: Pioggia at July 5, 2005 10:30 PMOh boy! That sounds like something I would do! Hee. I knit that sweater for my fella this winter-spring. Love it. It has such a casual but attractive fit. I did his in the style with the funnel neck and no stripes- but I substituted a much cehaper yarn. Dittto Heather; show the curves. I am lovin' the black-and-white stripes. Posted by: MJ at July 6, 2005 05:03 PMtight t's are a good thing sometimes. hope it all works out! Posted by: erika at July 6, 2005 05:43 PMwho wouldn't be 10 again, given the chance? i think my designs have a definite hint of the nursery about them. Posted by: anna at July 13, 2005 07:46 AM |
