June 03, 2005Third time's a charmI know, I know, you've seen it all before... ~wanna see the back~ Project Specs:
I never really thought row gauge mattered 'cause I've been somewhat happy with my knits without even thinking about it. I usually have so many other issues going on I don't really think of it, but after reading Wendy's post about row gauge, I decided to incorporate that "eureka" moment I had after reading it into this knit. Could not getting row gauge contribute to some of my wonky fit issues...why yes, it did (even though I didn't know it specifically). Within the shoulder shaping rows I threw in a row here and there and after (cause I was lacking in the row count) and let me tell you the fit is much better. Look at that difference in the sleeve cap above (is that what you would call it). Makes all the difference when you put it on. And yes I will be ripping the Noro Kochoran back down to sleeve...eventually. So I'll no longer be saying that row gauge doesn't matter to me. It matters...bigtime. ~mottle goes to work with me too~ Posted by froggy at June 3, 2005 06:46 PM Comments
Wow! froggy. the mottled sweater looks fabulous! I really love the color combination. Posted by: eyeleen at June 3, 2005 07:48 PMI love it! Posted by: Amy at June 3, 2005 07:49 PMCute, cute, cute! I did get that Rebecca, too - you're right! Lots of fantastically cute knits in that issue. My inner girly-girl love #17 & 18. Posted by: Meg at June 3, 2005 08:12 PMLooks good, I love the colours (both the GGH and the Noro), I'll have to take a look at that Rebecca issue. Posted by: lcord at June 3, 2005 09:07 PMLove the colors...ugh...I hate swatching and now I have to swatch for longer so I can make sure the row is correct too? WAH! Posted by: Christie at June 3, 2005 09:39 PMThat is a really attractive design for you! I'm glad you had a light bulb moment about row gauge. I love learning new things with each project. :) Posted by: Karma at June 3, 2005 10:45 PMThere really is a difference based on the first sweater and this one. I love the colors, so pretty and they look great on your skin tone. I think you will enjoy this one alot (especially since you've made it 3 times!). Posted by: Wanda at June 3, 2005 11:52 PMThis sweater looks so good! The Kochoran looks great too, but I really like the color combo on this one. Row gauge... I was just thinking about this today. I'm always under, and I was wondering how that affected my knitting. Thanks for the link to Wendy's post! Posted by: marichan at June 4, 2005 12:10 AMi love this. i wish i could wear those colours, but the shape is just lovely too... i really like those little sleevecaps. it's great to find a pattern when it just 'works' for you, and you want to knit it again (and again and again). Posted by: anna at June 4, 2005 04:02 AMYou are just beautiful with this sweater and the color is perfect on you ! Posted by: Christine at June 4, 2005 05:37 AMi have to say -- i like yours better than the model's. yours really fits! hers sorta droops on her. congrats on not giving up until it was _really_ perfect. Posted by: jody at June 4, 2005 05:40 AMIt looks great. Interesting to see that row gauge makes such a difference to the fit. I'll have to bear it in mind on my next project. Posted by: Mary at June 4, 2005 05:54 AMI've just sent your MCI in its newhandbag size + a littel sthg, but forgot to include a note! Hope you like it all and it doesn't take forever to find you. Love the shape of the sweater -- it would also look great with a rounded scoop neck. Posted by: nona at June 4, 2005 11:44 AMThat really does look gorgeous! I love the mottled colours, too cute.. Posted by: kerrie at June 4, 2005 12:14 PMIt's beautiful. Thanks for the tips on row gauge too... I read Wendy's post, and I will definitely watch for that in the future. Posted by: Missy at June 4, 2005 08:29 PMThat's awesome! And I'm so happy that you're really pleased with it. That's the best feeling. :) Posted by: Tara at June 4, 2005 08:32 PMThe same but different. Really pretty. Posted by: Marie-Hélène at June 5, 2005 05:39 AMaha! i don't often read wendy, do i just got the same moment from you! thank you indeed. Posted by: corine at June 5, 2005 07:52 AMSigh - one more thing I really hoped I wouldn't have to worry about but now realize I actually do - sigh... The sweater looks so fun! I'm glad that you're happy with the fit. :) Posted by: Elisa at June 5, 2005 08:50 AMI really like the look of this, Froggy. The two strands held together make a lovely color combo. I really like it with the shirt underneath too. Have a fun Sunday :) Posted by: Lolly at June 5, 2005 10:04 AMThat looks great over the "love you" shirt! that one is sooo cool - the colors are yummy together! I also love the one in kochoran - you should absolutely reknit it - it deserves to be worn!! Posted by: karen at June 5, 2005 02:45 PMoh man, row gauge sucks! so much more calculating to figure out when all i want to do is knit already ;-) the sweater is great - again - and i love the colours! congrats! Posted by: kris at June 5, 2005 03:04 PMIt looks adorable on you. Love that color! Posted by: amy at June 6, 2005 07:59 AMOooh, I love that--I think it's nicer than the Noro version! Posted by: Heidi at June 6, 2005 01:01 PMLooks great Froggy! I am soooo into orange lately. I guess I need to knit something orange...don't you think? Posted by: Eilene at June 6, 2005 01:41 PMlove love love it! Posted by: amanda at June 6, 2005 01:46 PMThe good thing about row gauge is that it is easily corrected by adding or substracting rows. But I hate it when something is too wide or too narrow. What can you do then? Posted by: Pioggia at June 6, 2005 07:49 PMWaouh Froggy, your sweater is lovely ! Posted by: Dominique at June 7, 2005 02:53 AMIt's terrific! I have to say, you look good in orange... a colour I can never carry off :-( And gosh, wished I could wear bulky knits here too! Posted by: lyn at June 7, 2005 11:46 PMHi Froggy, I LOVE the top and the color combination =) Posted by: Oslofia at June 8, 2005 03:40 AMBeautiful!
