Froggy Knits

Size does matter...

rekal_button1.jpg

I have been working on my Noro Kochoran reknit and it's going quite well I think. I really like how it knit up using a smaller needle size.

Reknititing in a more appropriate guage is great. Here is what I started with. Not only does it leave me with a knit that actually fits in a manner similar to the look of the original, but look what I have leftover. And with that unused skein, I should be able to easily make something else. Woohoo, now if that's not a reason to check and recheck gauge I don't know what is. What is currently rewound is two strands of Kochoran held together, so I may have to separate the strands depending on what I choose to knit. The brown and browner one has become a wardrobe staple as is. I wear it layered over many things thoughout the fall/winter. I think the wool just works at that size, but the kochoran combo just hung like it was obviously too big. Must commit to swatching it up like Colleen. Thanks Colleen for letting me know what I need to be doing. Maybe it will cut back on the amount of frogging happening on my little lily pad.

ooh, that's exactly what I would love to knit one of these days, simple yet lovely! Beautiful colours on that variegated yarn.

I'd love to see that on.

Once you make it part of the project-planning process, it really isn't that bad.

Love the look of that tank/turtleneck in the Noro.

Oh, I love the look of Kochoran. I bet that looks fabulous on you. (hint-hint)

Glad you've got some satisfying knitting under your belt! It looks wonderful - the colors are really beautiful.

Froggy, I love that pattern! what it is? It's awesome that you have so much yarn left over :)

Yeah, isn't gauge a bitch? There are some things in knitting that are so worth doing right - gauge and finishing/blocking - yet are so difficult to motivate for...

Modeled shot! Modeled shot! The Kochoran looks so soft and like it needs to be a scarf.

Yeah I agree with Lauren ... show us how good a fit the newly knit is ... model shot!

What a great tank, and in wonderful colors.

Love the yarn. Noro is one of my favorite brands! I feel your pain... I feel like I have only been frogging my work all day long and haven't gotten anywhere! Good luck with your piece!

to echo claudia, i'd be quite interested to see that on. for a while i thought i was anti-noro, but now that i look at this (and tops in noro from other blogs recently) i think it's just that i'm anti-dpn and i was knitting with silk garden on dpns. perhaps a noro sweater is in my future too...

So pretty! I want to see it modeled too! I think you're right - I should be swatching and washing myself. I love the colors of the Kochoran - great choice!

I have one skein of this yarn...it's so wonderful. I love the colors in yours. so pretty.

Yes, Yes, model!

Lovely re-knit. I'd love to know the name of the pattern and am interested in seeing it modeled especially layered over something so I can get an idea of how it look. Would you be so kind? :) Thanks.

Love those colors - they make me think of Spring! Better to reknit than not to wear - looks like it was well worth the effort. :-)

I love this pattern and the color you chose too. Very cute !
I am so sorry for Mini's scarf, I hope she is not too sad. A lot of kisses to comfort her !

ive just encountered the wonders of swatching! except for knitty.com's xback. somethin wierd up with that ribbon yarn. it swatches perfect, and grows to enormous lengths when you actually knit it..

You're inspiring me to do my own bit of frogging and re-knitting now that I see your wonderful results. Thanks for sharing.

Posted by: Pioggia at April 25, 2005 09:47 PM

Gosh, it's hard to believe how much bigger the brown one is! Yikes, you really must have a 'few' things layered under there.

Posted by: Silvia at April 25, 2005 10:36 PM

ooo yes! i agree! Model shots pls! I love the color of that Noro. Kinda bright and peaceful. Reminds me of garden fields and the sea. You going to reknit the brown one too? Love that rich color.

Posted by: Laura Y at April 25, 2005 10:59 PM

LOVE the colors on the smaller one. The two are so different I'm sure you'll get good wear from them both.

Sorry about the Fizz scarf. She's an adorable knit model - I'm sure she'll pose with a new one.
