More on bunnies...are you surprised?

I was using some white leftover fill from another project for bunnies I and II and though I have a bit left, I really don't want to use it to stuff a black bunny due to the fact that I don't want white showing through (i could stand to go down another needle size but don't think it will matter if use a substitute stuffing in this case). Ironically, while trying to wash all of my knits before storing them away, I have come to realize that I have a pair of arm warmers when i wear them (legwarmers when mini wears them) that need to be retired. They have been washed many, many times and are past there peak. I have been thinking about what will become of them (though that didn't stop us from wearing them into the ground, hee, hee). So I've decided they will live on...in a bunny, of course. So here is mini gearing up to recycle an old knit.

~with a little moral support from strawberry shortcake~

And here is what we ended up with (mini insisted that strawberry shortcake, orange blossom, and pinky pie get in the shot along with just her hand). Quite big on direction today, lol. She's runnin' this bunny show. And then we went in search of the perfect face...

~wall o' felt~

Right after I took this photo she raced to that boa in the corner and declared that she has to have one...in pink, of course! Hopefully this stash yarn will do the trick. Ideas started to come to mind once we entered the aisle of felt. Mini thought it was soooo soft. And this led to thoughts of what this bunnies face should look like.

~armed with the comics and mini's crosswords we had our own little bunny face think tank~

And this is what we came up with. We are both pretty happy with the beginnings of a new look for our bunnies. Haven't decided on a mouth yet. I think we are way into enjoying the whole process of it.

~i don't know why they are happy, its not like i have a mouth, which i would tell them if i had one humph...~

Somehow I must have knit in a bit of an attitude on this bunny. Definitely have to remove that before we stuff it.

Can you move to the Northeast so I can babysit that girl?! She is too cute for words. The bunny eyes look perfect. I've got some Voila hanging around also. I was going to do the make-up bags in Hollywood Knits, but I couldn't think of anyone I know who'd want one.

I think this every time that I see a picture of Miss Mini: she is just about the cutest thing on two feet :-).

No ... I like the way the bunny's eyes are now! They make bunny look so contemplative!

Mini is so cute I want to eat her! (or just nibble on her arm a little!) ;)

Every girl needs a boa - my 12 year old daughter got a mini-boa from the craft shop too! It's for playing and cuddling even tho I'm sure she wouldn't wear it out.

Great idea to use felt.

I love the bunny, sans mouth. I've got to make some.

Oh, and yes, girls need boas... but they shed like crazy. Green feathers everywhere. Ask me how I know.

Cute Bunny with an attitude! no mouth needed, that bunny tells it all with it's eyes...and so does Mini.

Love that mini went straight for the boa...Pixie loves fluffy pink things! It's so cute...

Oooh another bunny...hehe... needs a little red cape :)

You have a whole family of bunnies going now! And it's very cool that you recycled a knitted item to stuff another one. I love the bunny face - so expressive.

Work that boa, girl.

I love seeing your knitting projects - and the bunny is very cute - not as cute as your gorgeous little girl though.

Posted by: kathreen at April 13, 2005 05:50 PM

Looks like you're fulfilling the stuffed bunny reproduction rates.

Boy do I know about trying to make it out of the store without a pink boa (one doesn't).

Posted by: Nancy at April 13, 2005 06:11 PM

btw, they are very cute! Love the faces too.

your bunny does have an attitude! what a great way to recycle your old knits. i am sure mr bunny appreciates the natural fiber filling. and i love the color of your strike. you make me want to knit in cotton (gasp!).

My goodness that Mini is a cutie pie. The bunnies are great - what a great idea to use the arm warmers to stuff the black ones. You are full of good ideas ;-)

Do Strawberry Shortcake dolls still attempt to smell like an approximation of strawberries? I can still call up that smell into my olfactory memory. You took me back!

How absolutely adorable! I know the feeling when my granddaughter is in a yarn store with me and needs.... Actually she did pick out a great pink yarn that knitted up into a beautiful, soft cardigan for her.

Attack of the bunnies!! What a great thing to do with mini! I love Strike from your post yesterday - great style - and it will look great in Spark with or without the drawstring.

Posted by: Vicki at April 14, 2005 02:47 PM

How adorable is she???!?!!? I love that she gets so involved in the process. You could try a silly bunny with googly eyes...:)

Posted by: Cathi at April 14, 2005 04:01 PM

I have *got* to try out that pattern!! I have some leftover chinchilla that would make a fabulous bunny, I just know it.

Are you going to make it to MDS&W? Wearing that gorgeous Strike, no less?
