Go wit' the Flo

back view
Project Specs:
Pattern: Rowan 30 Flo
Suggested Yarn/Used: Rowan Wool Cotton in Gazelle (original in Tulip)
Needle Size: bamboo straight US 2's and 3's
Gauge: 22sts/4" in St st

I really like how the collar falls when it is open. I definitely see myself knitting another as its a nice basic "kick around town all the time" cardi. I really need more cardi's and this is great weight. This is my first sweater using US 3's and I have to say that I'm in love with the drape of it. Just can't get this on big needles(though big needles have a plus side as well). Lookin' forward to knits with a similar type of feel. I'm hoping that Strike from Rowan 27 using some Rowan Wool Cotton in Spark knits up the same way. I'm seeing a trend forming wit' the orange. Now I'm wishing I had enough Spark for another cardi. Hmmm, how many skeins did Flo take again? If I don't have enough, maybe an accent color for the seed stitch is in order.
Could've, would've, should've...and did
I could've knit it one size bigger to accommodate some layers, but now that is supposed to be warming up I'm not going to worry about it. Maybe on the next one. And I wish I would've been a bit more careful in eliminating all of the edge stitches that I added on all pieces. It threw off a few numbers when working out the collar and the seed stitch pattern, but nothing too major. It would have made it easier to just get rid of them before picking up on that neckline. I usually get rid of them before I bind of, but I left everything live on this one and forgot that they were there until I did a stitch count on the collar. Just ripped back a bit and it was "all good". End stitches are such a habit at this point that I forget them all the time. When I work on Rebecca patterns (which usually include end stitches in the pattern), I almost always throw off the stitches if I don't remember they are already included. And I should've blocked Flo 'cause the girl does deserve a decent blockin'. Note to self: There is really no point in blocking after you complete the pieces if you are going to ball them up and put them in a bag for months on end.
But for the most part Flo's a keeper 'cause I did really enjoy wearing her when I took her out to test drive those buttons. Boy, I just love cardis. Gotta knit more of them.

Hey: that's really nice. The colour looks great on you. I think it's a case of with the right yarn, in the right colour, even a plain item can look really special.
Kudos, Froggy!
Hey Froggy!

Looks great Froggy. Nice oclour.
I'm with you that cardies are the best.
Hello Miss Froggy :) Cardigans are the ultimate live-in knit, in my opinion... I use them all of the time in every season. Yours is perfect for the spring that our area will hopefully see very soon! I love the versatility of it: simple and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion!
Hope all is well :)
i agree, cardis are great! flo is beautiful, congrats! i really must try me some of that wool cotton, it looks lovely.
What a great sweater!! I am terribly impressed. I can't imagine knitting a sweater for myself on 2's and 3's. I am far too impatient for that right now :-)

Hey, hot damn, that is pretty much the idea I had in mind for my koigu cardi....and it sounds like it's the same gauge maybe? In which case, I wouldn't have to search high and low for a pattern or make one up myself. Very cool, this!
I'M NOT SURE WHY EVERYONE IS SHOUTING IN THEIR COMMENTS, BUT MAYBE IT'S CAUSE FLO LOOKS GREAT!!!!
;-)
It's great, beautifully finished.
It looks lovely. The fit and the finishing look great. Cardigans are so versatile - here's hoping you get some spring weather to wear it!
Oooh La La, Froggy! A cardi on 3's - that is a great idea! Small needles are the best. The raglan sleeves are fantastic.

Woot! What a great cardi! And you're right, it _is_ supposed to be warming up around here, one of these days - and it looks like Flo will be just the thing when spring hits! Loved your orange lace, BTW!
Someday it will be warm enough with out the layers. Someday soon, I hope.
Looks great!

Very pretty and it is such a classic that you can wear it anytime anywhere.
Great cardi, Froggy! That would look cute with a cami underneath, and a skirt. Or with a t-shirt and pj's. The perfect all-around sweater.
Adorable! The patience involved to knit a full sweater on 2s and 3s... I love all of the edgings.
Wow! that turned out really good!

The color is absolutely beautiful and the cardigan is lovely. Impressive, as usual!
Flo's beautiful! Looks like a great cardi for cool spring and summer evenings. Might have to put that one on my list. I( agree, finer gauge knits do seem to have such great drape. Of course, it can take forever and a day to finish them...
Ooohhhhh, I love it ! Flo suits you perfectly and I agree with you about cardis : need more.
Wonderful Flo! One would never know it wasn't blocked already. This is the kind of great little sweater (cardi) you wear all the time and you can't have too many! Enjoy!
BTW, I love end (selvage) stitches--they've made a great difference in the finished appearance of my knits.
OMGOSH - that sweater is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!
I do like Flo on you. What are end stitches ? I figure they are the same as a making selvege edge ?
Flo is beautiful! She suits you so well. And I'm also on the cardigans are the perfect sweater bandwagon -- go cardigans!
Me too, I want one! Oh so nice.
Wow, Flo certainly looks wonderful on you! Can't believe I missed this for so long. The colour is beautiful and I love boxy cardis. And I have to say yours looks so much better than the one in the mag :-)

Lovely, elegant cardi! Looks fantastic on - the dusky lilac is so pretty, too. Lilacs - oh, now I'm longing for spring again *sigh* (lol)
Great cardi! Lilac must be the "in" color; I just had one done up too!
I LOVE this. I'm getting into finer gauge stuff now - so classic and elegant, even when casual.
Great knitting and finishing.
