March 01, 2005Hello dolly...I have to say that sock knitting has really changed my perspective on what some (which used to include me) consider "fussy knitting". Just doesn't seem so fussy anymore. I have wanted to kit the Best Friend Dolls from Interweave Knits and now can't remember if it was the dpns or seaming tiny bits that kept me away, but have to admit that it was nice to use dpns again and kitchener the top of the little dolly. I'm missing socks right now and luckily the US 5 dpns didn't give me any trouble. Still can't believe I was a bit excited when I realized I would be "kitchenin' again. ~bits and pieces using left over bits and pieces~ And then we have da bunny... Not sure how I feel about "not so happy bunny". My stitching skills need some work. I'm hoping that my next bunny will be a bit more visibly content. Mini is quite pleased so that is the most important thing. His arms and ears aren't mirror images, but we love him just the same. The experience itself was worth more than the bunny to me (but don't ask mini...to her its all about the bunny right now). She loves it. I have to admit that we (i) got a bit ahead of ourselves with the last one and sewed it up before stitching the last one. Didn't make it easy getting that expression on there. Won't make that mistake with the next bunny. I'm trying not to rush the face on this one, but mini is wanting another "stuffing party" so I best be getting to it. Oh my, did I finally knit an animal for the Zoo-along. And yeah, I know that was over ages ago. Better late than never, right? What a minute, do they even have bunnies at the zoo, hee, hee.

So, so cute! It just looks so lovable! I like it a little sad - looks like he needs a big hug. I remember being pretty excited about my first kitchener stitch - it just looks so nice and neat when it's done. Of course, I did it once and never did it again. I feel socks calling me as well. Maybe I should finish the one I started. Happy zoo-along and have a wonderful stuffing party! Posted by: Cara at March 1, 2005 07:08 PMThey have jackrabbits at the zoo, don't they? Ah, I love the bunny, as did my little girl, only my little girl is 4 legged and furry and unable to help me stuff. If you want Bunny Man to be less stern, try makign his mouth a wide W so the ends turn up. Another option is to just go for funny faces. I like a french knot for the mouth and eyes which gives him an "OH NO!" face. :) Posted by: Marnie at March 1, 2005 07:22 PMCute! I love that she helped you stuff it. He doesn't look THAT sad. And hey, they have bunnies in petting zoos, that counts :) Posted by: Vicki at March 1, 2005 07:30 PMOooo, I hated knitting the best friend dolls. Give me a sock any day! I think he has a lot of character! Posted by: Emily at March 1, 2005 07:43 PMBunny is just serious, not unhappy. Plus that smile on mini makes up for his gravitas. Posted by: Silvia at March 1, 2005 09:00 PMHa! That doll is so cute. I'm glad you've found some knitting that doesn't hurt. Posted by: sally at March 2, 2005 12:21 AMYou bunny is adorable- love the colour! You'va also inspired me to grab those dpn's, which I have been scared of for too long...your enthusiastic sock addiction is contagious. Your's is too cute and so is it's friend :-) Posted by: Shelby at March 2, 2005 07:25 AMI think "grumpy bunny" is adorable. Glad that you're enjoying the DPN's again. Socks have taken their toll on my wrists as well. As much as I enjoy them, I'll be glad to move on to less painful objects again. Posted by: julia at March 2, 2005 07:47 AMHey sweet Froggy! Your little orange bunny is fabulous, even if he looks a little sad. This is just the cutest pattern, and most importantly, Mini loves it! This pattern would be perfect for my nieces' Easter presents! I like the little pink doll too--it looks very cute. Hope all is well! :) Posted by: Lolly Lauren at March 2, 2005 08:18 AMPerfection is not what's the most important thing to a child. She is just happy with her bunny. You did a great job Froggy!! You made her happy! What a cute little doll. Take care & hope to meet up with you again SOON! :-) Posted by: Eilene at March 2, 2005 08:35 AMI knew once you started you would have the toy making bug! Bunny number 2 looks like he is going to be just as cute as number 1. I like the sad face.. Posted by: kerrie at March 2, 2005 09:28 AMumm I have to say from mini's face, I think Bunny is scowling a-ok :) Posted by: stinkerbell at March 2, 2005 10:01 AMBunny is so cute, and I must say that suddenly Mini has gone from looking like a toddler to looking like a little girl. Posted by: Colleen at March 2, 2005 11:08 AMI think they are all adorable...and most importantly your little one love the bunny! Very cute dolly. What clothes are you going to knit for her? Has Mini decided yet? Posted by: Sophie at March 2, 2005 12:59 PMI like the disgruntled -bunny look ;) Really cute. The next bunny looks like it's coming along well. I don't know... I think he looks like "very earnest bunny". He's quite sincere about being orange and fuzzy. Posted by: Mandy at March 2, 2005 03:39 PMAaaaaw! I'm charmed! So sweet. I know what you mean about the kitchener - how exciting is it to make it look like continuous stitching? Looks like magic! Posted by: Meg at March 2, 2005 06:17 PMThat expression on Mini's face says it all: That bunny is just perfect! Posted by: Pioggia at March 2, 2005 07:13 PMwhat a cute doll! and MIni is adoarable with her bunny! Posted by: Nancy at March 2, 2005 10:19 PMGreat job on the knitted toys! I'm thinking about making another bear soon. Posted by: Alana at March 3, 2005 10:47 AMI love the doll!! She could bring a smile to anyone's face. And the cute face of your little one with the bunny is just too sweet. Experience mounts up little by little and things that seemed daunting are no longer. Good job. Posted by: margene at March 3, 2005 02:29 PMHey, my arms and ears aren't mirror images either?! Cute bunny, cute-er Mini. Posted by: nona at March 3, 2005 03:29 PMI just love knitting best friend dolls! And it always kills me covering a perfectly executed kitchener stitch with hair. But they're fun. Posted by: LauraA at March 3, 2005 04:45 PMThat Best Friend doll looks a riot with her bald head and no clothes; she reminds me of those IKEA wooden dolls. Can't wait to see how you dress her! Mini looks so adorable in the shots with her bunny. What a face!!!
