March 28, 2005I just need yarn, a couple of sticks and a computer, right?
Is it just me or are there others that thought that all you needed to know to blog was how to knit and type? Luckily, other bloggers and online resources fill in the gaps (with a bit of trial and error thrown in the mix-or is it a lot of errors with some trials, lol) Blogline update: Due to some updates, only one feed will continue to update regularly. The following will subscribe you to this particular feed if you would like to receive updates. Continuing Feed ![]() Gmail users: Ok, what's up? I am finding that for some reason, some emails are being grouped with previous conversations for no apparent reason. example 1: lets say i read a email and don't delete it. later, come back and delete it not realizing that another has come in and attached itself to it like it was part of that thread (and its not. i mean it's from a different person entirely) then of course i delete it never realizing that it was there. example 1b: three unrelated emails arrive and gmail reads I just realized this is happening. Has anyone heard of similar issues....or is this a "user error", lol (don't know why i find that so amusing). I'll have to contact gmail, but you guys are always on top of everything techie so i figured you may be able to shed some light. There were a couple of trades that I had boxed and was just waiting on an address. If you sent confirm with address, please resend as I may have missed the email. Luckily, now that I know this I don't use the check boxes to delete anything. I do it all individually, but boy do I need a folder to put all of the knit tips in. I guess they should go in an excel chart so as not to eat up mail storage. Thanks for such great knit tips! And speaking of organizing knitty items, I've been wanting to get to it after seeing that fabulous spreadsheet at savannahchik knits. Man, what a great idea. And if anyone is still reading at this point, I bet you thought there was not any knitting content, huh. Well I'm just about done with a few blasts from the past. One so far away it was in another galaxy, lol. any guess what this could be, hee, hee But of course I had to take a break as I have been having thoughts of knitting Alison's. tee from MagKnits and doing a little bit of recycling that has been on my mind for a while now along with what to do with a supply of straight needles that I hardly ever use due to my discovery of addis.

I agree. This pattern from Magknits is just great ! ;-) Posted by: b at March 28, 2005 06:11 AMThat has to be Audrey! I've been eagerly anticipating your FO :-) And yeah, Alison's latest Magknits pattern is great! Posted by: lyn at March 28, 2005 06:28 AMLooks like Audrey to me! Sorry you're having computer troubles but it sounds like you're getting it all worked out :-) Posted by: Shelby at March 28, 2005 07:29 AMI've had similar weirdness with gmail and have gotten in the habit of clicking expand all to make sure I haven't missed any messages. I like gmail because all of the messages are there and it doesn't matter what computer I'm on (my normal email downloads to my laptop), but navigation is sometimes a pain. That is Audrey, isn't it. I'm impressed! Posted by: amy at March 28, 2005 07:31 AMI love that tee from Magknits. Very cute! Is that AUDREY I see? Modeling soon to come? I like the idea of setting up a speadshheet also. I'd also love to get some of those bins to keep all my yarn organized. Thank goodness we have other people to give us great ideas. :-) Posted by: Eilene at March 28, 2005 07:59 AMYep, that's definitely Audrey. I don't have gmail, and all that talk is very foreign to me. Scary, actually, since I have a fear of the unknown (hee). Posted by: Norma at March 28, 2005 08:08 AMViva la Audrey! Posted by: Julia at March 28, 2005 08:32 AMEven I recognized Audrey - and I'm off in another galaxy with her! I think about Alison's pattern all the time - are you going to do it with a word on the front (froggy?) or leave it plain? I just moved stash around into new homes last night - but alas, whenever I think I'll get organized and write all of it down - I get through half a bin and I get restless. I'm hoping my memory holds for now.... Have a great Monday! Posted by: Cara at March 28, 2005 08:32 AMI know what that is! Awesome! I have noticed the same thing from gmail. weird. send them an email! Posted by: heather at March 28, 2005 09:09 AMI don't know what that is, but it looks great nevertheless. Posted by: Colleen at March 28, 2005 09:28 AMWell, at least Bloglines *sees* your updates. Unlike me. /begin pity party/ Technical difficulty. Grrrr. Posted by: claudia at March 28, 2005 09:54 AMDont get too excited about creating a stash spreadsheet. I was completely shocked to know how many balls of yarn I own. I think that blue knit is Audrey? Does that mean she is coming to an end? Weather is warming up so, it will be done just in time. Posted by: lisa at March 28, 2005 10:06 AMI don't know what is this pattern, but the blue is gorgeous ! Posted by: Dominique at March 28, 2005 10:31 AMGo Audrey!! I'm having a different problem with gmail. When I send messages to gmail addresses, they frequently fail! Sometimes sending a message a second time seems to help, but...Either there is a technical issue or the gods have decided to make me live in an electronic tower of babel. Posted by: Anmiryam at March 28, 2005 10:33 AMI've had Gmail link unrelated email together because the subjects were coincidentally identical. Haven't had the problems you describe (yet!). Posted by: June at March 28, 2005 10:36 AMIt's attached!!! Now I'm gonna sit and wait for the full picture. Posted by: Lauren at March 28, 2005 10:54 AMMagnifique Audrey !! show us more !!! vite vite vite ;-))) Posted by: Annabel at March 28, 2005 11:14 AMAudrey, dear, it has been so long :) Can't wait to see, Froggy--I know it will be smashing--LOVE the color! Posted by: Lolly at March 28, 2005 11:35 AMaaaaaauuuuuuddddrrrreeeeyyyyy? lol! glad i'm not the only one who feels the need to organize my knitting life. though maybe if i spent less time organizing and more time knitting....well, you know how it goes:O) Posted by: amanda at March 28, 2005 12:16 PMI love that magknits pattern, myself...I'm thinking about using my audrey yarn for it. That means there would be no Audrey, tho. I have the same problem with gmail. I'd be interested to find out the answer to your questions about it. Posted by: Moni at March 28, 2005 12:57 PMAudrey's back! Good for you, that pretty sweater will be great for Spring weather. Posted by: Pioggia at March 28, 2005 06:55 PMhmm that's strange about gmail. I never had that problem. In fact I have the opposite problem. :) the lace looks lovely.I like the blue colour.I'm doing the t-shirt too, just havent decided what I'm putting on the front of it,what are you going to put on the front of your t-shirt? Posted by: cara at March 28, 2005 10:23 PMHmm..Audrey? Love the blue. I *think* we're born adjointed twins - First, the lilac cardi, and now I've got a blue FO too! :) Posted by: Emy at March 28, 2005 11:04 PMOh, I think I know exactly what that is...If my memory serves me right, that is the beautiful lace edging of Audrey. I can't wait to see the finished product... Posted by: Georgia at March 29, 2005 12:59 AMI don't know Audrey so I hope I will see it soon completed! Those computers are all little rebels, let us show them who's the boss! Posted by: Kim at March 29, 2005 06:41 AMwoo hoo, audrey! it is really going to be a beautiful top. the magknits tee is a winner. i really want to knit that and have a chance to finally use calmer. thanks for the organizational link -- i need it for everything, including my BRAIN. :-) Posted by: mrspilkington at March 29, 2005 06:58 AMI saw that little T a while back and it really is cute!! Can't wait to see your progress!!! Posted by: Maggie at March 29, 2005 07:16 AMOoh, I just started using gmail - I will have to look out for that weird grouping thing. Also, thanks for sharing that link from savannachik! I need some organization in my stash, lol! And BTW - if you decide to make Alison's Nothin' but a T-shirt, let me know! I have my eye on that one too and would love to join in. Posted by: Dana at March 29, 2005 08:41 AMooh, the color of that Audrey is fabulous. That pattern scares me, but one day I will make it. Posted by: Carrie at March 29, 2005 09:43 AMYay for straights! Mine are feeling very neglected too - I'm going to find a project for them too! And it's really unfair because they are so much prettier as objects and easier to find homes for than the nasty tangle that is my (growing) circular collection. Posted by: sally at March 29, 2005 07:23 PMI'd love to knit the MegKnit tee too. Would be interested to know what yarn you'll use for it. Posted by: Agnes at March 29, 2005 07:40 PMOoh, you're making the Audrey! Hurry and finish... Posted by: Silvia at March 29, 2005 09:12 PMThat's a great shot of the yarn on the laptop. We're talkin' banner quality! :-) P.S. Good move on the Bloglines. I only have the index.xml syndication available as it's easier on my bandwidth! Posted by: Becky at March 30, 2005 05:47 AMThe gmail weirdness is what got me using their pop3 forwarding and getting my mail in my mail program instead of on their website. This way I know what I'm grouping and why ;-) Thanks for the link to the spreadsheet - I'm a newbie knitter, but thinking if I start being organized now, before my yarn stash gets much bigger, it won't be *too* painful ;-) Long time lurker, 1st time commenter, just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful blog. Have a great day! Posted by: Dani at March 30, 2005 10:04 AMI don't know Audrey but I hope I'll see yours completed soon because this lace is just beautiful ! And blue is my favourite color... Posted by: Christine at March 31, 2005 08:12 AMThat tee looks like a really great pattern! Looking forward to seeing it. Posted by: Missy at March 31, 2005 09:44 AM |
