February 28, 2005Now, why was I gonna rip this....stitch close-up using just under 2 balls of Rowan Polar in color stony (640) I thought when I originally finished this cowl that it was a tad on the big side. However, I did not want to rip it 'cause I was amazed at how Bonne Marie instructs you to bind off. Great pattern that you can find here (scroll down). I plan on using it for a few other cowls in mind. I worked it in 2x2 rib. It really created a cast-off edge that resembles the cast-on edge beautifully. Now that I'm in the process off clearing out my knit baskets, I ran across this and can't believe that I haven't been wearing it. The Polar just feels wonderful. I just need to weave in a couple of ends and we're off. Comments
That's really cute. I'm glad you didn't rip it! Posted by: amy at February 28, 2005 07:56 AMI really like that look... I am glad it was saved from ripping! I think I made wristers in that color... me I'd just want to attatch that to a sweater... Its colder than a witches tit over here! Posted by: Moni at February 28, 2005 01:39 PMIt looks dead comfy and the colour is very pretty and will go with everything. Posted by: Sophie at February 28, 2005 01:42 PMGorgeous! It looks so comfy. Thanks for the pattern link! Posted by: Niki at February 28, 2005 02:00 PMThat's lovely, froggy! Great colour. Funny how your mind can change if you get away from something for a while. ^_^ Posted by: Missy at February 28, 2005 03:33 PMFroggy...what a fabulous neck warmer. That neutral color will go with so much. How is Lara coming? I forgot to let you know that my Mom doesn't have the sweater. She gave it to the knit shop to seam up. She said that her length is very cropped though. I'll have her measure when she gets it back unless you already found out from someone else. ;-) Posted by: Eilene at February 28, 2005 04:11 PMa fresh look at something can yield wonderful results! that looks like a very cozy cowl. say that a few times fast :) thanks for visiting my blog! Posted by: michelle at February 28, 2005 04:34 PMIsn't it great when a UFO becomes a FO without having to do anyting -- knitting fairies? The ribbing looks great in place of stockinette stitch! Posted by: nona at February 28, 2005 05:37 PMIt's great when you get to keep a finished object, isn't it? That cowl looks cozy, enjoy it! Posted by: Pioggia at February 28, 2005 06:49 PMOh yes, don't rip! I just knit some mittens for my husband in the Rowan Polar, and isn't it luxurious - I love it! Very pretty, Froggy! Posted by: Anne-Caroline at February 28, 2005 09:00 PMIt's kind of like when you put something in the dirty laundry but pull it out a week later, and it isn't really dirty.
That's lovely, and a great go-with-everything color. Glad you didn't rip it! Hmmmm..now what in my stash would make a good cowl?? Posted by: Lorette at March 1, 2005 02:24 AMGlad you didn't rip it - looks great - now send it to me cause it's freezing here!:) Posted by: chris at March 1, 2005 08:09 AMThat's fantastic! Aren't we silly sometimes? we have to not see something for a while -- absence makes the heart grow fonder or something like that. ;-) Posted by: Norma at March 1, 2005 09:22 AMSimple and stylish! I like it very much. :) Posted by: Minna at March 1, 2005 10:22 AMThanks Froggy, for the compliment on Clapotis and me! Now you see, I could keep warm AND hide the auxillary chin with that cowl....Guess I must make one! Thanks for looking at my blog! Posted by: chris at March 1, 2005 10:46 AMI'm glad you saved it. On a snowy NE day like today, it would come in handy. Great photography! Posted by: Jennifer at March 1, 2005 12:25 PMThat's really cute! I'd love to make one for myself. How's your wrist? I've been going through something similar and had to resort to prescription anti-inflammatory drugs...it's helped a lot. Take care :) Posted by: Amy at March 1, 2005 12:53 PMI LOVE this!! Posted by: tania at March 2, 2005 11:21 AMNow that you have a new-found love for the Kitchener stitch, did you know that you can bind off (and bind on, too) in tubular rib. The bind off is essentially weaving, like the Kitchener stitch. It looks just like a 1x1 or 2x2 cast-on edge and you don't need the garter rows. Posted by: susan at March 2, 2005 11:24 AMSuch a lovely alternative to a scarf...it looks fabulous! Posted by: dcknits at March 2, 2005 04:48 PMWonderful cowl! Posted by: eyeleen at March 2, 2005 09:17 PMLove your cowl. Rowan Polar is a glorious yarn for sure. Your little girl with her bunny looks over the moon with him.
