socktus-eruptus

why its a koigu volcano, hee, hee

That'll teach me to stop paying attention and feel as if I've made it to the end once I get near the toe. Boy, you gotta watch those socks. They can be a little rascally (new word i picked up at one of mini's friends at a birthday party this weekend, hee, hee) After I put it on I realized that it was not as bad as I thought. Just gotta rip back a bit and shape that toe. Ahhhh.....koigu!

Now why do I feel like Hermione Granger of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban would be proud of that title? Now if only I could get that second sock to magically appear.

Great colour Froggy. Your socks look awesome! Great title too. You make me laugh. I'm sure Hermione will be proud. :)

Oops! At least you only have to go back a tiny bit. :)

You are too cute, girlie! Love the koigu on your feet!

How long are you going to linger at this part of the list anyway? Looks like a "sock study" is in place. (I'm doing the same thing!)

Those are beautiful socks! I can't wait to see them all done!

I love reading your new postts in the morning. You have such a funny and engaging style of posting. I think you should write a knitting book. Most are either so precious and twee or overly pun-filled and trying too hard. You would be a refreshing change from all that. I know you'd pull together cute patterns as well.

Posted by: Amy at February 13, 2005 08:51 AM

Hehe that is a long toe! I thought maybe you were growing out your toe nails. ;) I wasn't paying attention to the socks I am working on this week and turned the heel on both of them before I made the heel flap!

Posted by: Karen at February 13, 2005 08:56 AM

Rascally. A perfectly wonderful word!

Posted by: Norma at February 13, 2005 09:46 AM

You are a very funny girl.

;-)

Posted by: claudia at February 13, 2005 10:11 AM

Funny looking sock indeed. Easy to fix, but in the meantime you made me laugh. Thanks!

Posted by: Pioggia at February 13, 2005 10:16 AM

Looks like just the thing for wearing with pointy-toed shoes, if you ask me.

Posted by: Iris at February 13, 2005 10:44 AM

I think rascally came from Shrek 2. At least, that's the first time I've heard it. Donkey is talking about how he's named the fish Shrek and Fiona and he says "That Shrek is a rascally devil!".

Your sock volcano made my morning :D Like you said though, at least it's not REALLY long.

Your title is so funny! I imagine you knitting on a pile o' yarn that looks like a volcano. Tee hee!

Posted by: Becky at February 13, 2005 11:08 AM

Maybe you could grow your toenails to fit!

Posted by: Tracy at February 13, 2005 11:10 AM

I love the way the colors look. You just got a little excited, it happens to the best of us. I would be more likely to stop too soon as the lure of something being done usually outweighs the extra row that I think a sock really needs lol I usually end up regretting that though :)

Posted by: Vicki at February 13, 2005 11:35 AM

Hey Miss Froggy! That Koigu is lovely. Can't wait to see them all fixed up and finished. Wear them so I can see them! :)

Take care!

Oh, Froggy that's funny. I shouldn't laugh, but those toes are a bit long... I did the same thing while knitting during the Matrix 3 (bad movie, but lots of exciting scenes.) ;-)

Posted by: Jenny at February 13, 2005 07:58 PM

Those colors are really pretty. I finally bought some koigu yesterday for some socks. Can't wait to try it out.

Ha! Rascally is word du jour around here too... as in "Logan is being a bit rascally with that ball of yarn!"

Posted by: sally at February 14, 2005 01:37 AM

oh to be able to afford koigu socks!! but girl, having just rediscovered the true peril and horror of grafting, I have two words for you: toe up.

Posted by: gaile at February 14, 2005 04:57 AM

Good job on rasslin' that rascal down!

Posted by: monica at February 14, 2005 06:29 AM

Cute post and pics! I'm sure your socks will end up looking fantastic, gotta love that Koigu.

Posted by: lyn at February 14, 2005 08:10 AM

hehe cant wait to hear the write up on Koigu, another sock yarn I need to touch.

I am sure Hermoine would be proud. Oh and I did the same thing this weekend. I used my notmal toe and it looked horrible so I had to rip the whole toe out and then re knit it the way the pattern said :) See you are not alone!

Posted by: stinkerbell at February 14, 2005 09:44 AM

Wow, that's a great Koigu colorway! I know what you mean...wouldn't it be great if there were a sock duplicator, so that you could put your first finished sock in, press a button, and get the second one?

Posted by: Em at February 14, 2005 10:01 AM

I'm SO glad you miscounted, rather than having your toes actually shaped that way. It would be hell in the shoe dept.

Posted by: Silvia at February 14, 2005 11:05 AM

Koigu socks! Yummmm. Hermoine would have fixed it with her wand!

Posted by: margene at February 14, 2005 11:41 AM

To bad you don't have Hermione around to fix that with a flick.

My mom (a knitter too) and I are waiting to see how the filmmakers have Hermione knitting for house elfs (if they don't cut/downplay that storyline).

What a lovely colorway! And I'm so glad to see that someone else's needles have bow. I thought I was the only one. :)

And if you figure out the spell for the second sock be sure to post. So many of us who get Second Sock Syndrome would love you to pieces!

Posted by: Erin at February 14, 2005 01:57 PM

Ah la deuxième chaussette !
Peut-être en bougeant le bout de ton nez comme Samantha ! ;-)

Posted by: Dominique at February 17, 2005 11:14 AM

I had just turned the heel of my sock when I realized there was no way it would ever fit a normal sized adult woman. Sigh...

I think your sock looks great and I LOVE the Koigu!

Posted by: Elisa at February 17, 2005 09:14 PM

What a splendid colorway! I am starting on my first socks very very soon, and I'm hecka nervous.
