Button Headwarmer

close-up

Inspired by this headband from Girly Knit, I decided to knit an earwarmer for mini. It's getting a bit warmer, but her ears are still a tad cold, however they get too warm with whole hat and caboodle. So I present the compromise. There is still a lot more from this mag that I want to knit from my first mention. And I still see one of those headbands in mini's future along with a wrist band too. I'm thinking a few of these will make good use of some odd balls I have around here. Hmmm...must start working on my intarsia project. A little color changing would be a nice addition as well.

Hey Froggy :P I love the simple knit with the buttons as embellishment. That is so cute and very girly! Mini looks happy with it, and adorable as always.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Hope to hear from you soon.

What a great idea- and it looks good, too. Especially on such a cute model.

So, so cute! Way to go Mom. Mini looks so happy. Very stylin'.

Styling! I love those easy projects that looks so great when finished. And mini is adorable as always :-)

What a great ear warmer!! Mini looks so beautiful in it - the color is perfect for her. I love the buttons, too. :)

So cute! Both the headwarmer AND the model!

Posted by: Wendy at February 7, 2005 08:16 AM

That is just the cutest thing. My girl is all grown up, but she's always had a "thing" for button embellishments like that......I think she'd love one of these. Soon it will be too warm for her heavy winter hat....Hm......thanks for the great idea once again!

Posted by: Norma at February 7, 2005 08:19 AM

That's really cute !

Posted by: Emma at February 7, 2005 08:24 AM

Darling! I love buttons.

Froggy the buttons are so fun - what a nice touch. Your Mini is so cute!

Extremely cute idea, those buttons.

Every picture of your mini is so cute...! And once again, a big cheer for your always brilliant ideas : pink buttons on this headband are simply great :)!

I love it. It looks great on her too :)

Posted by: Vicki at February 7, 2005 09:45 AM

Mini looks so cute.

I love the headwarmer. Even though it may be a bit too much lamb for a mutton like me, I may have to knit one for myself. That magazine is great.

Posted by: Amy at February 7, 2005 10:52 AM

absolutely adorable!!

Posted by: ricki at February 7, 2005 10:55 AM

Very cute, a few buttons and a simple headband turns into something special.

Posted by: Sophie at February 7, 2005 12:23 PM

she is adorable in it! and I have to agree with her, I like the top of my head covered but leaving the ears out in the open... that is a negative ghost rider, NEGATIVE :)

Posted by: stinkerbell at February 7, 2005 12:24 PM

I love it! Hmmm...I may have to copy!

Posted by: Christie at February 7, 2005 12:34 PM

Your mini is just entirely too cute! And I love the headband too. I've been inspired by her lovely glamour shots shots to make my mini the Molly bolero from Junior Knits. Keep up the great work!

Posted by: stacey at February 7, 2005 12:51 PM

Love it! I could use one of those myself...

Posted by: Moni at February 7, 2005 01:01 PM

Posted by: eyeleen at February 7, 2005 01:30 PM

Your designs are always great to look at!!. Where do you get the magazine? I have been trying to find them for some time now. I nive in Central California and we have a serious shortage of materials here!

Posted by: Angie at February 7, 2005 02:19 PM

She's just adorable and so is the headwarmer -- it's girly and edgy at the same time.

Posted by: Brynne at February 7, 2005 04:31 PM

Made for each other... What a cute accessory on an adorable little girl !

Not sure what's cuter - your Mini or the earwarmer. You've inspired me to do the button thang on a headband I'm planning on knitting...

Posted by: Elizabeth at February 7, 2005 06:47 PM

i love how you just get inspired and run with it. the headband looks great and so does your daughter.

awwww :)

Posted by: erika at February 7, 2005 08:18 PM

Awww...so cute! I'll bet you went out on a limb picking PINK! What--no purple! Love it on Mini.

Posted by: Silvia at February 7, 2005 08:30 PM

Hi ! The pink hat looks very nice on your daughter. What a clever idea to add buttons as emberllishment !

Happy Knitting !

The best thing about the ear warmers is how Mini's hair can poke out behind it - she always has such cute pig tails. :)

Posted by: Anne-Caroline at February 7, 2005 09:04 PM

OMG! How cute is that precious little thing?! And she looks so adorable wearing that gorgeous headband/ear warmer! What a great idea!

Posted by: Michele at February 7, 2005 09:32 PM

What an adorable head warmer. Love the buttons. Very differnt & I love different! What a pretty little girl! :-)

Posted by: Eilene at February 7, 2005 09:46 PM

Too adorable!

Posted by: Siow Chin at February 8, 2005 12:20 AM

That is such a cool idea. I spent time this weekend sorting through my button collection - now I know what I can do with some of them. Mini is quite the fashionista!

Posted by: sally at February 8, 2005 02:46 AM

Hi Froggy, I just stopped by to say I got the Marie Claire Idees for winter that had that scarf I liked and saw at your blog. I have translated the pattern. I was wondering if you had done that yet. I would be happy to send it along to you if not. Let me know.

Posted by: Elizabeth at February 8, 2005 10:42 AM

simple, yet chic...perfect for a stylin little girl!

of course we love it too 'cause it's pink!

Posted by: heather at February 8, 2005 11:24 AM

What a cutie...and what a lucky bean she is to have such a cool, crafty mom! I want one too!

Posted by: Niki at February 8, 2005 01:11 PM

That is absolutely adorable! I love how garter stitch looks on things for kids, and it's a nice alternative to rib. Stretchy, and cute. The buttons are a great detail. Very clever. I bet she gets tons of comments on her fab headwarmer when she wears it!

Posted by: Becky at February 8, 2005 01:54 PM

WHERE DO YOU GET THAT MAGAZINE FROM?
My LYS does not carry it.

and mini is quite gorgeous in it. I looked at the second picture without reading the entire post and originally thought that it was a hat with 'cut outs' in the back for her pony tails to fit through it (because I saw the mini puff on the side)

Posted by: Nik at February 8, 2005 03:04 PM

very simple and chic. your mini looks great, as usual.

Posted by: lynette at February 8, 2005 03:06 PM

Super cute! I bet my little cousin would go crazy for one of those. (especially if it's a really girly pink... she's such a girly-girl). Great idea for using up odd balls...

Posted by: Tara at February 8, 2005 11:27 PM

i love that headband!!!
I should make one for Pearl, too bad she doesn't have the hair like Mini

Posted by: joy at February 9, 2005 12:31 AM

Posted by: Krystine at February 9, 2005 07:19 AM

it seems futile to comment when you already have 50 (!!) but i really like that headband! i bet mini is loving it.

Posted by: molly at February 9, 2005 09:23 AM

C'est adorable, it's very cute !

Posted by: Dominique at February 9, 2005 11:37 AM

Mini looks so sweet with her headband. The buttons are a nice touch.

Posted by: MJ at February 9, 2005 02:06 PM

Wowza! How adorable!

Posted by: Jennifer at February 9, 2005 10:49 PM

This is so amazingly cute! I just love the random button embelishment - it makes it so fun and whimsical. Mini is one lucky girl! ^_^

When I have children, I totally want to be a cool knitting mom like you, froggy!
