Froggy Knits

December 03, 2004

a whole lotta pieces yet not enough for a single sweater

Flo sleeves, back and a not very good color representation of the right front

I thought I had the perfect buttons when I took a swatch to G-Street Fabrics and looked at about a million buttons, but now I'm just not feeling them. In the store they were the perfect shade. Must have been the lighting in the button department. I have ordered some Rowan buttons in a shell kind of go with anything color. I hope they go with the flo (hehe).

Rowan Big Wool Chrissie left front, sleeves, back
I'm quite pleased with the buttons for Chrissie.

Sirdar Denim Ultra cardi right front, sleeves (SOMEBODY BLOCK US!), and back

Pretty happy with these buttons too. So two outta three is not too bad.

I usually alter lengths for fit so I was thinking that I would set up the buttons first before working on the right fronts to ensure that the holes were worked in where needed. Length changes usually throw off the buttonholes as indicated in the pattern. Now I am realizing that for these three sweaters, I didn't rework any of the lengths and will now have to do a knit and button as I go, yet not for the reasons I had originally planned. Without making changes it would have been easier to knit the buttonholes first. Figures. I have a feeling I'm going to be shifting some buttons around. I have everything on holders so I am hopeful that necklines can come out much neater than usual the first go around. Trying to avoid the bind off and then pick the same number of stitches and then rip and redo routine. We'll see how this goes. Now on to three right fronts.

Three things near completion...amazing knitter, you!
The buttons look good on the sweaters shown. All big store lighting is bad when it comes to color. You might as to take them outdoors next time to see them in 'true light'.
Knit on! I'll bet we have a big reveal soon!

you sure have a method to your madness...wow. I aspire to be like froggy with her knitting!

You're knitting up a storm, and all of it fab !
The Rwan shell buttons will look perfect on Flo - the one's you got are too pale.It always amazes me how lighting can alter colour and tone so much.
Have a great weekend. :0)

You and Monica are my heroes! I wish to aspire to crank out my projects faster. Your sweaters/buttons look okay to me. But like Margene, I would check in out in natural light.

Oh my gosh - so many almost finished, beautiful sweaters. You are amazing!

Nice! I really like the big wood buttons :-) Wow... you've made so much progress on your knits. Amazing! And they are all so pretty as well!

I am one of admiratrice, I read your blog tous.les.jours. What you do is splendid

I think buttons are one of the hardest parts to any project. It's tough to get them to match. On the screen, the Flo buttons appear to be the right color but look just a little small. Thank goodness for G Street and it's amazing selection. I can feel the FO's coming on!

I love Chrissie - that's one of my fave Big Wool designs ever. I cant wait to see it all finished..

I love flo, the color you are using is just beautiful. I also like those wooden buttons. They look fantastic with the cardi.

You must knit fast, you always have finished work up!

Wow.... you have been a busy lady! I hate picking out buttons. You found some nice ones. I like the wood look ones.

Posted by: Karen at December 4, 2004 09:32 AM

wow - you must be living in some kind of strange part of the universe where you knit more in a single day than i do in an entire month.

or maybe i've just spent too much time trying to pick out yarn for the ribby cardi on elann. ;)

the pieces of sweaters and buttons all look great though. can't wait to see the froggy action photos, or FAPs. hee hee...

Well I can see the knitting fairy is back! I love picking buttons as I think they really finish a piece and can cpmltetly change the way it looks.

Love the Chrissie--it is very nice!
Your button choices are all great, in my opinion!

Take care, Froggy girl :)

Froggy, you are amazing! How can you knit all those sweaters at the same time? I do like Flo's buttons, I don't think they were a bad choice.

Posted by: Pioggia at December 4, 2004 08:51 PM

Looking good - the only problem with lining up all that finishing - is all that seaming.... the button combo's look the business.

I have to agree about Flo's buttons. She needs more pizzazz!

How do you find sooo much time to knit around the holidays? Did you Christmas shop in June? I haven't gotten much knitting done at all! Everything looks great so far.

Posted by: Eilene at December 6, 2004 09:35 AM

i'm always amazed at how quickly you knit up a project. what is your secret? do you consume large amounts of caffeine? do your fingers go into turbodrive when you pick up the needles? keep up the knitting -- it serves as inspiration!

Hi Froggy, Wow great progress is being made! I can't wait to see Chrissy made up. I like the tweedy yarn. I love the scarf with the dangling mother of pearl sequins in the post farther down. Where is that pattern from. It looks like it could be easy to figure out, but what kind of lace pattern is it. I have to make one of these!!!

Posted by: Elizabeth at December 6, 2004 10:43 AM

Wow. I check your blog all the time. I'm just a beginner in the "scarf/wrap/poncho" phase. You are so inspirational. How many hours a day do you knit? Are you a really fast knitter?

Posted by: Ceanne at December 6, 2004 11:53 AM

Are you Froggy? No, you are THE FROGMEISTER! Wow, three almost-sweaters? Great job on your quick knits!

Posted by: Anne-Caroline at December 6, 2004 10:42 PM

WOW froggy! You are an amazing knitter, and I'm in awe of your knitting skills.
