Two days...Two Seams...Two Projects

Two days have passed so I have completed two seams, lol. Can't get enough of the flounce sweater. Would have done more, but you can check out my computer wallpaper to see what kept me from knitting. Picked up a few goodies at the show and can't wait 'till the next one. Cirque Du Soleil shows are amazing.

Also did a bit of seaming (two seams) on the Apricot Jacket. I didn't go quite far enough on the top of the front right to meet the middle, but I threw it back on the needle...

and did a knit and seam for a knit to fit. That allowed me to block it like the amateur blocker I am. Check out my blocking board aka beach towel on the floor, lol. Once I start blocking more, I'll invest in making or buying a better board. But I have to admit, I don't block as often as I should. At this point, I'm a knitter not a blocker, but I plan on changing that though. I am always in awe of nicely blocked knits and always wish I had blocked. (of course this is after I have already seamed).

A knitting buddy gave me the Je Tricote! box at our sit 'n knit at Starbucks. Isn't it cute? At first I thought she was taking a stab at how my hair usually looks, but as it turns out its just a coincidence that it looks like me, lol. Not anything inside yet, but I've got a few notions that will fit perfectly. And I finally got my hands on the Knitting Calendar everyone was talking about way back when. Duh, I was looking the knitting sections of the bookstores, not the calendar sections. There are many nice patterns inside though Wendy's sock pattern was the inspiration to take a look at it.

I feel like I was just starting to enjoy summer and all the great things that come along with it just as it was coming to a close. Like don't you wish you had a slide like this in your backyard? My mini had a blast and then looked over at another thrill seeker. What's he doing? I'll try that! Though I'm looking forward to sweater weather, I will definitely miss cotton candy, funnel cakes, pony rides and remember playing paddleball and popping yourself in the face too many times (or was that just me). Well, I turned my back for a minute and found my mini sittin' on the hay and the next time I looked around I saw this...

I'm originally from the south and every now and then, I see a little bit of my childhood pop out, lol. My mini looks very much like my grandmother and I remember fonding hanging out on her wonderful farm. This pic just takes me back...

Talk about your happening seaming party! Everything is looking very, very good. And re blocking: My fancy blocking board is cardboard covered with plastic and a towel. Didn't cost me more than a few cents and still does the job. Hee!

Flounce is stunning! I like it without the sleeves too (but of course, you have worked so diligently on Sleeve Island). The texture is amazing. The > box is so cute, and perfect for notions.

As always your "mini" is so adorable.

Have a great day, Froggy :)

My blocking board is floor insulation! You can buy it at Home Depot, cut it into three pieces and viola - your blocking is done! No fuss, no muss, and you can store it under your bed.

Pins go into easily and the pieces dry so quickly. I couldn't believe it.

Also - I use a carpenter's square ruler to ensure all pieces are the same. Home Depot and Knitting - who would have thought?

I love the hay stack photo, too cute for words! the colinette jacket is looking great as well, that is going to keep you so warm and snug this winter..

I love the color you're using for your Rebecca Apricot Jacket - a good excuse for surfing a little more and poking around to see if I can find out the name.

I must share Lisa's comment about Home Depot and knitting with my husband - I'll have a blocking board in no time as he loves any excuse to go to the hardware store!

That is one adorable girl.

Cannot wait to see the Apricot Jacket and Flounce sweater all finished. I gave away a couple of skeins of Point 5 this weekend for someone's birthday and I couldn't believe how difficult that was. Total pig!

What yarn are you using for the Apricot Jacket? I love the green. I'm dying to make this one, but i fear my source is never going to send me my copy of the mag (also waiting on 28, boo. hoo.).

I had to do the same thing with Apricot Jacket. The extra 8 cm. or whatever that was required for the front of the sweater just wasn't enough to meet smack dab in the middle at the back of the sweater. I don't have a fancy blocking board either. I just use a striped rug and carpet.

Your seaming parties were a great success, it 'seems'. haha! I LOVE the Cirque de Soleil shows. I saw 'O' in Las Vegas and watched the making of and finale of Varekei on Bravo. But it's nothing like seeing it up close.

Your mini looks like she had a ball.

Thanks for sharing. :)

umm your whole fancy blocking looks like my kind of fancy blocking. I use the floow with carpet that has no padding under it and well Voila!

I love the Je Tricote, and cant wait to see how Apricot Jacke en Verte looks all done!

You are a machine!!! Can't wait to see everything all finished up.

Flounce looks great! I love the colors too. One time I saw a picture on Mariko's site where pillows were partly visible... Hello, bed! Good thing we have a king! LOL!

The flounce sweater is great! I can't wait to see more fo pics.

I pictures of your mini are really sweet. I know what you mean to get that reminder of your past like you described seeing mini sitting on the hay. What a wonderful moment for you. :)

Wow, lots of progress on many fronts!

Just curious: how is that knitting calendar on the whole? I had heard that the quality of the patterns varies wildly...just trying to decide if it's worth the investment.

She's beautiful!

The Apricot Jacket looks very beautiful. I'll definitely check back to see the finished product. ^_^

I also love the picture on that Je Tricote! knitting box. Too funny. But it isn't nearly as cute as the pics of your daughter. What a cutie!
