Froggy Knits

Froggy Library Additions

As part of a much celebrated (with one down side) swap with Lyn at Consomme's from Malaysia (even her stamps are cool), I received these two mags. Thanks so much!

My focus was on the textures. I really like the shape of the sweater on the left. I think some GGH Esprit is in order to that one. And that skirt is too cute. I just want to reach out and grab the scarves in the middle pic. Those colors are amazing and the texture of the scarf on the right just screams at me (loudly) Knit Me!
And the down side is that she has not recieved my part of the swap yet. I'll have to get another one off to you (this time trackable). Please forgive its tardiness. I have my fingers crossed that it arrives on Monday with two froggy friends that I included.

I popped into Knit Happens this week and another reason (among the million other) to love that shop, Kristine handed me a book hot off the press that I just had to have. It's Junior Knits by Debbie Bliss.

I want to knit just about everything in this book. And above are just a couple of my favs. I just adore Molly on the left (already requested by mini) and that Ruby poncho/skirt is just fantastic. There's some Lion Brand Cotton-Ease in Strawberry Cream (color 101) that is most likely going to be cast on for Molly soon. And the Sid hat is a must knit!

Also received the Rebecca 28. I am pleased with it but it looks a little different (new designers maybe). Not as many break out knits as usual (in my opinion). However, I really like the bolero made out of yarn called Amelie (loved that movie) on the left and the two little flirty numbers on the right which are both knit with GGH Soft Kid (in my stash so that's a plus). Here's another view of the Amelie sweater. Oh, and I love this poncho included in this mag, but also featured as a free pattern at Rebecca Online.

And then we have Tendances Hiver 04-05. And here are my top picks.

I love the orange one with the removable caplet. It reminds me of another knit I have planned for this fall (maybe too similar in style to knit both) from Rebecca leaflet Edition 1. I love the separate roll collar. I guess I could do both is they are not both in orange. I think that color is pulling me in though. And that nomad land sweater on the right is really cool even though I don't think I would be able to recreate that wrap which is why I like it so much, but I like it open as well. We'll see. And its a rust orange. I think I may be getting hooked onto another color. Hmmm.

It's funny how sometimes I think color guides to me to patterns before the actual construction of the sweater and that may be why there are these okay sweaters in my library, but later it morphs into a must knit. It sometimes takes another view or another spin on in it in blogdom to get me to take another look at to appreciate it totally. (I have to admit there was a time when I only had patterns that were modeled in a green yarn (not a coincidence as I originally thought).

Orange colors definiely suck me in. Like Blaze in the new knitty...is it the design, or the color???

You must have *the* most awesome mag collections ever!

Oh man - I must have that Amelie sweater. It looks just lovely. I need to discipline myself to knit faster and more often so I can actually finish all of these project I would like to do.

I like that poncho a lot. It reminds me of a similar Peruvian poncho I had as a little girl. Are you actually able to read all the patterns in those magazines?

Great new additions! Thanks for showing us your collection! I hope I did not miss you today at the Knit-Out. I kept an eye for your daughter, because I have never seen a picture of you, but I was not able to find her either.

Hope to talk to you soon! :)

Oh wow, thanks for posting so many images of the patterns! Very nice, great ideas too. I've been looking at the こものがいっぱい too at a Japanese site and was wondering what the patterns looked like inside!! Thanks for posting those!!!!

Wow! Thanks for the pics but now I am in love with several more sweaters. How to prioritize them all?

I find myself drawn in more and more by orange too. It's a good break from green.

I totally love that Debbie Bliss poncho, must get the book! Brooke just looked at the pictures and told me that I have to make Molly for her so it looks like she has the same taste as your mini! Gorgeous sneak peaks, thanks for sharing them with us..

Japanese knitting books are the neatest thing, ever. Those scarves, particularly the lumpy one in the middle, looks like it would be a fun thing to knit.

Glad you like the two books. I loved that green sweater too and wished I could wear chunky knits in Malaysia without sweating my arse off.

Great pictures - you look spoilt for choice with patterns! I like the new Debbie Bliss book very much - I'm sure one of my next projects will come from it soon. I like Sam (but maybe in a girly colour) and Pea.

I love the princess pie links! I MUST have patterns for those cute bags. Target also has bags like that on their website but I can't seem to find them in the store.

Hi Froggy, like you, I have the feeling thatRebecca is not as good as usual. But it has a couple of patterns worth knitting. I love the Amelie bolero, too, but I also love some aran sweaters like the ones made with the yarn called Aspen (at least in Germany they are called like that). I like the patterns you picked, too, but I am not really a friend of Mohair wool, it is most cases too scratchy for me.

I haven't seen the new Rebecca book yet, but thanks for sharing your new loot. Those are great patterns.

What cute patterns...I have never bought a Rebecca, but I think it is about time especially now that I've seen how cute some of the patterns are.

i love that wrap-around / shawl-collared sweater! i think that, of the next 5 things on my to-knit list, 3 of them have been inspired by things i've seen on your blog. :)
thank you for sharing!!!

(personally, i find myself drifting among color groups that match the prior season. currently, i'm in Summer Colors mode - hehe!) :)

Your daughter is really on the cutting edge of fashion...very cute ruffles on sweater. Some of the adult outfits seem too much like runway outfits...do you girls really wear those styles? I'm in CA...is dress down here. Bye

Oh Froggy I like your style! Excellent choices from Tendances and Rebecca - and I love the Japanese mags - I'm still trying to find that Girly Knits magazine! Know of anymore swaps?
