Could my favorite color be.....green?

Check out my new love....

Do you see the emphasis in the size of this pic, lol!
First up in green we have this ribby number. Any ideas what this is? Could it be another Audrey (nope)? It's my first sweater using Rowan All Seasons Cotton and wow is it great! I love the springiness (is that a word?). I'm knitting it in size 6 addi's and it just heavenly to knit with. The color is Fern (ribby pic is not such a good color representation here). This is a little bit better
The fate of the minisweater is unclear at that moment, but I do know that I have to get rid of that nasty light stripe from one of the skeins of Manos. I thought I could live with it, but I can't. Did you see it? It's a skein that is smack in the middle of the sweater including the arms. I'm not that crazy about it. So of course in froggy fashion, I have to at least start with that. So I have decided to knit the Everyday Cardigan with the Manos (I'm big on pictures and I can't tell you how much I don't like getting a blurry, not in focus color pic on the pattern. It's not scan worthy.) I'm using bamboo straight in US 6 for the body and US 5 for the ribs. I may not rip the minisweater entirely until I run out of Manos from my stash. I just want to get to that stripe so I can set that skein aside. Maybe I'll use it for a hat or something.

Here's the beginning of a sleeve.
Instead of ripping, I am just going to knit from the minisweater.
And in other shades of green we have the sleeves of the Flounce jacket.

And because it's green, I had to share this necklace I made (and I am using the word made loosely). I just strung the beads, really. But inspired by Mariko's beautiful pieces, I decided to share a little jewelry, too. My mini was quick to put it on when I needed a model. Mariko is always working on something fantastic! I just didn't know one person could have so many talents!

I also love the clasp.

Now to a big NO NO!

Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Lucky, oh my!
Just a couple of magazines you say. But at a GREAT price. I didn't know that the Price Club had magazines. I know they have cheap books, but I just couldn't pass this up. Three fashion mags for $8 bucks (and I know it may as write $9 but I am trying to help my case). I gave up fashion mags for knitting mags except for the occasional international fashion mags which are pretty hard to find near me. Now to what makes this bad. I am MAD about mags like you wouldn't have guessed. When I lived in NYC I worked at and ad agency and had 300+ mags at my fingertips on a daily basis and was just addicted to them. Couldn't even believe my job was work. And I appreciated them then, but when I moved did I miss them. Never realized how expensive it would be to continue when it was no longer a job requirement. You can rack up quite a bill. So I just gave them up cold turkey. Cause I just can't buy one. And I KNOW that. I hope this isn't the start of a downward spiral.
And isn't this cute!

Saw this in the latest Victoria's Secret Catalog. I actually just got home from Macy's and I think I saw this exact one. It was at the same price point and fiber content too. Gotta knit me up one of those. In green of course.

So what sweater are you making with the pretty green Rowan? I never noticed that stripe across the Manos the first time you showed that picture. I see it now that you pointed it out... that would probably make me nuts too.
Your necklace is great! Very pretty. I keep wanting to make a poncho too but there are so many projects ahead of it I think they will no longer be in style by the time I get around to it.... :)

I think the stripe looks like you did it on purpose - it makes interesting.

I love the look of that Everyday Cardigan - where is that pattern from?

Your Flounce Jacket is so beautiful! I absolutely adore the texture!

That new Lucky mag has some great knitty stuff in it too (well not actual knit instructions) but some great inspiration! :)
Hvae fun!

OMG... you are such an enabler! I love the close-up shot of ASC... so beautiful. And springy, you say? Sounds like my kind of cotton. Your necklace is so pretty! Love the colours of the stones :o)

I can't wait to see your ribby project all finished up! I used to be addicted to magazines also and now have just one subscription, in addition to the knitting mags of course. I almost picked up a copy of the Sept. issue of Vogue but decided that it was just too heavy to lug around. Your necklace is just beautiful.

You are too much! I can't keep track of all your projects. And now jewelry-making too? What a good idea to rip your sweater to the stripe and use it for something else. I have beads almost identical to yours. Don't be surprised if you see me sporting one soon. You've inspired me!

:)

Of course I LOVE the shade of your All Season Cotton!! It's perfect for Fall. Nice to see that there's someone else loving green :-))
About the magazines: I know well what you mean. I used to work for a PR agency in Munich some years ago and we got as good as EVERY woman magazine around. Buying them all is really expensive. But I have been reading the US issue of Glamour since 1989 (!). It is my favourite one.

I share your magazine addiction. I can't get enough of them!

Love that green poncho!

I love green, too! Your new projects look so great, and your necklace is beautiful.

so you do beading too? I was thinking about starting but I cannot afford another crafty-habit.

Where is the pattern for the EveryDay Cardigan?

Posted by: sandra at September 1, 2004 04:28 PM

I've got to put that Everyday Cardie back up on my list of To Do's. I always forget how much I like it.....

I love that green poncho. Are you going to use the ASC for that? Are you going to keep us guessing? I'm knitting Rowan Smooch now in the ASC in Misty and I love it also. It's very easy to knit with.

The VS poncho looks alot like the Berroco poncho, check out their free pattern for the Loretta Lynn poncho knit in 'Duo'.

I used their pattern, but substituted Noro Kochoran for the cowl neck and bottom border, for the body of the poncho I used Cascade Leisure.

Oh, Froggy! That ASC is a pretty, pretty green!

I really like that necklace and your knit projects are, as always, gorgeous.
You should try beaded bobby pins, they are fun, quick to make, and addictive. :-) Also make great gifties...

All Seasons Cotton is so yummy delicious. My friend let me caress hers when she was knitting with it and I wanted to swim in it....looks fabulous.

Rowan's ASC is FABULOUS. Such a pretty green color, too. Nice choice, Froggy!

That poncho you've shown is so flattering, and just the right length. Argh. I feel the need to poncho this season!

what pattern are you going to use for the poncho? I love that look and was curious what you are using.

I too have a horrid magazine addiction and went cold turkey for awhile. Now I just have my one subscription to Bazaar. The others are all so tempting!

Rowan ASC is one of my all-time favorite yarns! Yes, springy/sproingy is the only way to describe it! Can't wait to see what you're making. Ah, I love fashion magazines. They are the most divine waste of time and money. :) I let a bunch of my subscriptions run out, and I'm feeling a bit deprived now!

I love that colour green (all seasons cotton)!!!! It's my fist time knitting a sweater using it as well and I too love the "springyness". I have yet to post an official pic of it though...hopefully tomorrow!!!

Oh wow, that VS poncho is sooooo cute! I might look into knitting something like that up for winter!
