up to my neck in audrey

What do you think? Does she need a collar, lol?
Recently inspired by Julia and Eilene, I have begun to work on Audrey again. I know you have seen them already, but I just can't stop admiring the wonderful pics and the way they worked those darts so beautifully. I have worked on the lace a little bit. And why is there not a pic? Because I can't get past the third repeat. Guess lace and the Olympics do not mix. Not very conducive to lacework(even on such a small scale). By the time I look down to check my work, I have yarnforwards, *yarnfronts and yarn all over the place and have to rip back to the beginning 'cause I can't figure out how to tink my way out of it. My first attempt at lace was not a success, but was pretty hilarious to say the least. Thank goodness it only involved 12 stitches. Guess I have a ways to go before I try Charlotte's Web Shawl, lol. Believe me I know I have to knit up to that project. But I am I determined to get that collar completed. I'll have to set some time aside that is a bit more lace friendly, lol.
I've come to the conclusion that I don't really just knit. I knit and watch tv, knit and blog, knit and chat, you get the picture. I just think that the knit coupling has prevented me from knitting up. I want to knit from a wide range of patterns (ranging in level of difficulty). I'll have to revisit this after I finish some more projects that are already in motion. I want to really outline my knitting goals so to speak.
And for Eilene and Anita I have included another pic of Alex.

And thanks so much for the wonderful comments about Paris Loop and Alex. I actually didn't model Alex 'cause she seemed a bit, how do we say....boring. Shhh... don't want her to hear. Maybe it was the fact that I was lovin' the loop d' loop texture so much that I just couldn't properly give the Rowan Wool Cotton the attention it so properly deserves. But it is a nice basic sweater to have which I have wanted for a while and now that I have tried her on again, I am really taking a liking to the Rowan Wool Cotton. Very soft and drapey. I may just keep this on for a little bit.
*and about those yfrn's... are they just yfwd's and that would be yo's that are placed before purl stitches. and wouldn't you bring the yarn to the front if you were about to purl anyway so it would really just be a yfwd or yo. does that make any sense? if not, disregard this note, lol. (i think i may have just confused myself) yfrn is not defined in my mag. ~help~.

I know what you mean about knitting lace! When you're just starting it, you can't knit & do much else.
very nice pink sweater...
Audrey is looking fantastic.Knit that lace ! ;-]
Alex and Paris Loop are Fab ! You're getting some fantastic knitting done.
Thanks for the picture! It looks great - hey, we all need wardrobe staples, nothing wrong with that!
Anita
PS. haven't got the pattern in front of me to check but isn't yfrn different to yfwd, ie. one goes over the needle and the other under?
It's good to have basics in the closet. Great for those Sat afternoon's by the TV.
I agree with you on the paying attention. I find when I turn off the TV and just sit by myself and knit, everything goes so much faster.
I like the colour that you picked for Audrey.
Thanks for a pic of you wearing Alex and for linking to my blog! I thinks Alex looks and fits great. It will go with sooo much. Audrey looks so beautiful and her collar isn't even attached yet! Gorgeous color. I am so tempted to make a sleevless (cheater) Audrey in a real pretty color. I love how she came out.
About the yfrn's...they are all the same. Only with the purl stitch, you have to wrap the yarn around the needle first then bring it back to the front.
hope that helps! ;-)
Alex looks great on you! And so does Audrey (what there is of her). ;0)
Audrey is looking really good! The off the shoulder look is in any ways!
Love your latest pics! When I started my Remembering Honey sleeves, I was watching the Olympics and trying to talk on the phone. Sure enough, riiiippppp!!! Lace does take some concentration, esp. for a lace novice like me.
I'm going to be working on some basic, nice jean sweaters soon.
Hey girl, audrey looks great - love the color. yfrn stands for "yarn forward around needle" and it's not exactly the same as the others - you bring the yarn to the front, then wrap it over the top of the needle to the back and bring it back out to the front underneath the needle - it's a loop that ends with the yarn out front, whereas a yfwd doesn't loop over the needle an extra time. I think the neckband requires a little concentration, but once you get it down you'll be more than ready for charlotte's web!
Boy you have been busy! I like Alex...not boring at all. Very pretty and classic. Audrey is looking good too.... almost there.... :)
Your Audrey will look perfect on you after adding the lace neckline. Alex looks grret on you too !
Woo hoo! A posed photo of Alex! Boring? Did you say boring??? So not true. Very, very cute on you!
And I say that you leave Audrey as is. Hubba, hubba! (Okay, I'm kidding. But you *could* pull it off, you know.)
Multi-tasking knitter right here! [Raises hand.] I never just sit and knit. I have to do something at the same time, whether it be watch t.v., knit, make cookies, convert pdf's...the only thing I don't do is knit at the playground because I have to get up every two minutes when I'm there.
And that is the end of my incredibly chatty comment.
I think Audrey is sexy as all hell just as she is. I'm not just saying that because lacework scares the crap out of me.
I love love LOVE the sari yarn! So not necessary, but thanks!
Alex...boring...never! You look great and the color is awesome! Great color choice on your Audrey too!!
Sexy Audrey! I like the color on you. I am also loving your Paris Loop. Great knits, Froggy!
Froggy, I love your Audrey! The colour is gorgeous. And - I had to start the lace neckband three times, because I got messed up with the pattern.....
I will not join the Klaralund knitalong. I got many comments and e-mails concerning Silk Garden and some people toldit is a little scratchy, so I don't want to knit something I am not going to wear... a pity....
hear from you sonn, I wish you a wonderful Sunday!
